Christmas 2010 - No.6 Joy To All


Just a quick post today as I’ve got a load of DIY to do this evening (it’s never ending!). I wanted to share my 6th Christmas 2010 card design, and there’s a video tutorial of it for you too. This is a more traditional coloured card than I usually do, so it made a nice change. I like to leave my comfort zone occasionally!

    Hi Wendy,

    I have been a follower of your youtube videos (I absolutly adore your deaigns!!!) for quite some time now and I'm needing some advice from you hoping you could help me.

    What kind of inks would you recommend for just normal straight forward stamping on coloured cardstock? There are so many brands out there some better for embossing some only for embossing etc. Do you have any advice?

    I'm in need for other colours other than black but reluctant to buy just whataver..

    @Sandra Thanks for your lovely comment! Here's my inking advice:

    (1) Use ColorBox chalk inks for stamping vibrant, quick drying colour onto cardstock. ColorBox Queue inks are also good for this but seem to take longer to dry.

    (2) Distress inks are also good for stamping on cardstock, but these inks do not give a crisp finish, they give a softer, more subtle look and dry a lot lighter in colour than they initially stamp.

    (3) If you want to emboss with these colours, firstly ink your (clean!) stamp with Versamark ink, then ink again (on top of the Versamark ink) with a chalk ink prior to stamping your image. Then hit the image with clear embossing powder & emboss. The Versamark is sticky and will enable you to emboss the image whilst using the quick drying chalk ink. This way you get the exact colour you want without having to buy lots of coloured embossing powders.

    (4) Use StazOn or Tsukineko Memento ink in any colour for stamping a permanent image that you can colour in with alcohol inks without smudging. Or simply emboss the image & colour away!
